To Speak Visual: What does it mean to speak visually? Emotion. If I can make you think and feel something by looking at a piece of my artwork, then I've spoken to you without using words. If you find your mind picking out shapes, faces, figures and strange creatures in my pieces... then we are communicating. To me, speaking visually is all about leaving an impact on the viewer. Instilling some sense of wonder and inspiration that each person can receive and take away from the art, well after they've turned from the image. What I bury in my work are many words and ideas that I leave for YOU to uncover and interpret by your own accord, and I think this is the essence of how I personally "speak visual" in my own unique style. Fractal art does not lend to forms and shapes and characters the way that other mediums do. While this may seem like a disadvantage in a contest like this, I think it can also be a triumph. The bar is set higher and seems more out of reach when it comes to meaningful inspiration. With this piece, I have taken many deliberate steps to inspire the "wow, cool" response but also to underscore an actual message. Heavy Lies The Crown. NVIDIA is an exceptionally powerful and innovative company, and in that people expect a lot from them. They are at the top of a very demanding industry, which is both a crowning achievement and a burden of expectation. I hope that as you breathe this image in and all the others in my gallery, that you take more than a moment to look deeper. There's more than you might think... and this is how I will continue to "speak visual" to all who have the sight. ---------------------------------- So there's my essay portion of the contest.... Some personal comments... this was technically the most difficult piece of work I have ever done. I still believe it could have been better or more refined, but I am exhausted and out of time. It may look overly dark if you don't have a good monitor.. sorry. It is 100% fractal other than the logo (eye tattoo). Even the eyes were red tubing of a render that I simply cut away at angles to give it the form you see above! Thanks for looking and good luck all =] |
